A Lake Zurich guy who operated a home well being care business was sentenced to a year in prison right after pleading responsible to defrauding Medicare.
Henry Smilie, 61, billed Medicare for nearly $2 million in false promises from 2012 to 2014, federal prosecutors mentioned.
At minimum $1.2 million of those claims had been paid to Smilie’s previous corporation, Household Medical doctor Products and services LLC, according to court information.
“The false promises pertained to ‘care program oversight’ solutions that were possibly not rendered or concerned therapy that was much less intricate than portrayed in the promises submitted by Smilie’s enterprise to Medicare,” prosecutors claimed Tuesday after the sentence was handed down.
Smilie also was ordered to repay Medicare the $1.2 million his corporation been given from the fake promises.
