Beyond their evocative power, the good smells are also recognized for their beneficial effect on the body and mind. How about using the properties of aromatherapy to enhance your well-being?

Extracted flavors of plants, essential oils are most often used for therapeutic purposes. But their virtues in aromatherapy are many more. Did you know they can also be used as air freshener in your bathroom or even in your plate? Here are some inspiring ideas to enjoy the flavors daily.

To scent the air

Nothing nicer than a house delicately scented. A few drops of essential oils released into the air disinfect, deodorize and perfume while wearing course to relax and unwind. You can find various types of diffusers, in the market, that leave slip that the necessary dose of product. Choose first the oils from citrus fruits such as lemon, mandarin or bergamot. Rosewood, eucalyptus, lavender and fir are also suitable for broadcast.

In your bathroom

Most essential oils are ideal for bathing. However, powerful as they are, never put undiluted essential oils in a bath and never exceed the recommended dose as it may cause skin irritation.

For your preparation: mixture of 6 to 8 drops of essential oil and a tablespoon of vegetable oil or olive oil. Pour it into a bathtub filled with hot water (not more than 38° C) and disperse the water and stir for a few seconds.

Now lie back and relax in the bath for 10 minutes. This will allow the oil to penetrate the skin completely to reach the blood vessels and spread throughout the body. You can also breathe the vapors while breathing and exhaling slowly.

If you prefer a shower, simply mix 2 or 3 drops of essential oil to your gel on the washcloth.

To treat

Although most notable work is such an antiseptic, aromatherapy has the power to relieve various ailments: cough, headache, sinusitis, asthma, digestive problems, insomnia, etc.

Oral: Essential oils must be mixed with oil, honey or yogurt. For long-term treatment, some laboratories prepare capsules or suppositories.

Inhalation: For direct inhalation, pour 4 to 8 drops of essential oil (eucalyptus or rosemary) on a handkerchief and inhale. If you want to inhale the steam, add 1 to 3 drops of oil in a pan of boiling water. Cover your head with a towel, close your eyes and inhale the vapors for a few minutes.

For the skin: This is one of the most common uses practiced by massage therapists. Mixed with massage cream or ointment, in which the essential oils enter the body through the skin, it have an extraordinary power of absorption. A few minutes after application, we find them present in breath and urine.

In your recipes…

To give an original touch to your meals, essential oils can also be used in cooking in desserts like dishes. Two or three drops are usually sufficient to flavor a dish. Never exceed the recommended amount at the risk of spoiling your recipe. Oils lose as much of their properties when cooked, it is preferable to add only at the end.

For baking, citrus, mint and lavender are the main essential oils used. To incorporate them into a preparation, mix them with melted chocolate, oil, margarine or egg yolks.
