Guide to healthy indoor air

There are safe ways to clean indoor air, which is often contaminated with chemical and biological substances, and preserve your well-being and health! Indoor air contains five times more pollutants than outside air. Many commonly used household products and materials have certain health risks. On their own, building materials commonly used contain more than 500 pollutants. The paintings and traditional cleaning chemicals can also contribute to the deterioration of air quality inside the house, but surprisingly, the most harmful contaminant of indoor air is cigarette smoke. We pollute the air inside and it contaminates the environment, because the smoke is mixed with water. We spend much of our time indoors. That’s why each of us should be concerned about air quality in our homes. If you suffer from health problems or sensitivities, you need to be more vigilant. Prolonged exposure to indoor air pollutants can have serious consequences, as evidenced by the multiple chemical sensitizations, which is an emerging environmental health concern. It is always better to prevent it! These pollutants can be chemical, such as volatile organic compounds, or biological (bacteria, molds, spores, etc.). Chemical pollutants are emitted by household cleaners and personal care products, combustion gases and smoke, and also by building materials (resins and adhesives containing formaldehyde), carpets, paints, insulation, fabrics and furniture. Particles and microscopic matter suspended in the air can enter the body. The...

Getaway on the Riviera Maya (Mexico)

Welcome to the Riviera Maya, with its beaches of fine sand, its semi-tropical forest, its rocks, reefs and mysterious cenotes where ancestral traditions, turquoise sea and modernity exist in perfect harmony. In 1983, a renowned tourist guide noted that the area between Cancun and Tulum did not have much to offer its visitors. How things have changed since then! According to recent statistics, there are more than 90 upscale properties on the Riviera Maya and by the year 2025, there should be 110,000 rooms on this enchanting coastline. Located on the east side of Yucatan, in the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico, Riviera Maya stretches along the coastline of the Caribbean Sea, a distance of 130 kilometers from the town of Puerto Morelos to Punta Allen. The landscape presents a succession of virgin beaches, lagoons, fishing areas, unexplored cenotes (underground freshwater wells with a top layer of salt water, located in ancestral limestone caves) and underground rivers. Not forgetting, of course, the luxury hotels, with superior services and small environmental institutions flourishing around the place. The Riviera Maya has become a destination in itself and offers a more friendly and intimate environment than its neighbor, Cancun. According to the municipal mayor of the Riviera Maya, M. Gonzalez, “this region gives equal importance to the environment development and economic planning and development of new properties.” There are also so many...

7 Strategies to Simplify your Life

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” – Leonardo da Vinci You must have heard this advice a thousand times that to improve your life and reduce your stress, you must simplify your life. But this is easier said than done Not sure where to begin? Here are seven strategies to help you see clearer. The power of simplicity Here is a truth very encouraging: our initiatives need not be complicated or difficult to deliver great results! And in the words of American writer Henry David Thoreau: “Our lives are frittered away by detail.” It is obvious that we need to simplify our life. Here are some small initiatives that can bring great improvements into your life. 1. Keep an honest perspective on your life Take a moment to review all activities and responsibilities you have. Do some choices needlessly complicate your life and deserve to be reconsidered? What was relevant a few weeks or months ago is perhaps inconsequential now. If you are honest, you will probably find at least something that drains you of energy unnecessarily and that can be eliminated. Do not hesitate to introspect and repeat this process fairly often because it is the key to simplicity.  2. Eliminate everything you do not need Over time, objects accumulate and impede the smooth functioning of our lives. The idea here is not so much to free up time,...
